How 3D works.

3D is a really awesome invention which lets you fully experience movies. But after that expensive technology, have you ever wondered how it really works ? The image above is really simple and explains it very well. There are plenty of other answers on how 3D works, but I find this the simplest of them.

  4. Why are 3D glasses sooo expensive? I don't think the blue/red disposable glasses work with the new technology

  5. I'm actually a photography major and I can safely say that 3D pretty much still works like this. I think they don't use blue and red anymore, but the premise of two images being projected to create one is still the deal here. It goes all the way back to stereoscopes back in the late 1800s.

  6. The problem with this is 3D movies give me a massive Migraine. I almost vomited watching Thor, but the only theater showing it was showing it in 3D. The 3D effects didn't make me sick, the pain from the Migraine did.

  7. I've been into 3-D technology for YEARS. the advances in the last 3 years make the last 150 years of 3-d photographic technique look sick. but you really can make 3-d with only 2 cameras placed one and a half inches away from each other.
on another note...JAWS 3-D, made in the seventies, used thier ENTIRE budget on 3 minutes of footage, then had to use out-takes from jaws 1 & 2, "bumped" into fake 3-D. Attempting 3-D used to bankrupt film-makers. thiose guys must be pretty cheesed off now, dontchathink?
