Memory expansion for brain ?

Have you ever imagined how it feels like if you want to learn, lets say for example to ride a helicopter and you don't have the time and the money to spend on training courses, so you just go on a shop/clinic and buy the corresponding memory and just insert it into your brain, and viola, you are ready to take off ?
Well, imagine no more, because a group of scientists lead by Dr. Theodore Berger - from the University of South California's Viterbi School of Engineering after a long research on rats,  have created a prosthetic chip that uses electrodes to enhance and expand their memory abilities. The chip is able to store neural signals so it functions as a digital memory. Here is the Dr.Berger's explanation:

"Flip the switch on, and the rats remember. Flip it off, and the rats forget. These integrated experimental modeling studies show for the first time that with sufficient information about the neural coding of memories, a neural prosthesis capable of real-time identification and manipulation of the encoding process can restore and even enhance cognitive mnemonic processes."

I really hope these smart scientists can perfect their research, so that this chip is usable by humans, so that we can store the entire book on our brains.

  1. Sounds creepy... I'm not sure I'd want to do something like that. What if the chip glitches out and crashes your brain or something?

  2. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes

  3. It's creppy, thought. I don't want people to have access to my brain in that manner.

  5. Haha it certainly isn't close yet to what you're proposing, but this is a fascinating advancement nonetheless
